Head to Val & Friends Community Living Room to…Make do, Mend and Reinvent together as we transform everyday objects and preloved items into things of wonder. Shining a light on the joy of local charity shops, repairers and creative upcyclers. Join us as we celebrate the moments of community, connection and kindness found in all these places.
Activities:
Make do: Join style guru Val for a comedy ‘Style your Neighbour’ challenge. Supported by local charity shops of Heanor, Val will be dipping in ‘her preloved box of bits’ and styling Heanor as part of our ‘Neighbourhood Make Do Style Challenge’.
Mend: Bring your things that need a fix to our pop-up Repair Café brought to you by Crich Repair and Share café. Whether it’s a chewed dog lead or a broken radio, we want to help you fix it.
Reinvent: Upcycle a charity shop top and make it your own. Come and learn how to stitch, style and transform a top into a thing of personalised wonderment with our dream team of Upcycling Allstars …Lise Bennet, Wendy Ducksbury, Netty Sumner and Jan Bradshaw.
And don’t forget to drop in to see the Shedders, as Val’s Pals Swanwick Men’s Shed return. Join them to make your own junk portrait from old wood and things from the shedders bits and bobs drawer!
Intrepid inventor Matt Pang will be bringing his show Thingmabob to the Market place. Blending circus, invention and humour, this is not to be missed.
As usual the Community Living Room will also be serving up brews, bants and neighbourly vibes, so come along and cosy up in our listening lounge for local stories and community connection.
