We are currently looking for 1 female performer to join our devising process and perform as 1 half of a double act in this new 2 hander show.

The piece will be created by Kate and Beth Maison Foo’s Artistic Directors and a team of additional creative collaborators including 2 x Performer/Devisers, a Musician, Video Artist, Designer/ Puppet Maker and Dramaturge.  We are looking for a highly skilled female performer who has a combination of the following skills/experience to join our creative team:

·       Devising

·       Physical Theatre

·       Clowning

·       Character Acting

·       Puppetry/Object Manipulation

·       Live Camera Operation

Applications from Lecoq/ Gaulier trained performers are encouraged.

We welcome all submissions and we particularly encourage applications from performers who have a refugee heritage or are immigrants. Maison foo believe the stories we tell and share should represent the world we live in and therefore we look to create a culturally diverse cast with strong clowning skills.

Commissioned by China Plate, Warwick Arts Centre, mac Birmingham and In Good Company

Somewhere, on a nowhere road, just past adrift and before you reach astray, you’ll find two lost souls. Running. Running with a thing mislaid. A thing without a flock looking for a place to belong. Maison Foo blend their trademark style of visual storytelling, clowning and humour, with new experiments in miniature puppetry and live camera. Travelling through cinematic worlds and surreal realities, A THING MISLAID explores themes of migration, journey and home through an unlikely tale of hope and friendship.

Tour supported using public funding by Arts Council England, The Evan Cornish Foundation and Derby Theatre

Maison Foo are an Associate Artist of Derby Theatre.

Maison Foo first came to national attention with their highly acclaimed sell out show Memoirs Of A Biscuit Tin at the 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. They also took the show on an extensive UK tour through autumn 2011 and spring 2012 to further critical acclaim and sold out notices, including 5 recommendations in The Guardian’s Theatre guide and a top 5 listing in The Independent. Since the company have also nationally toured their second piece Pendulums Bargain Emporium also to great critical acclaim as well as creating and touring a number of street theatre works. Their latest project ‘A Thing Mislaid’ was initially inspired by Kate and Beth’s curiously similar migrant heritage and their mysterious Irish Grandads. It began with a trip to Ireland to retrace the steps of these two mysterious men.
